How do you keep a toddler entertained?
Every Saturday & Sunday, my days would be filled with looking after Nizzar. I cannot do anything else but to keep an eye on that little boy. Last weekend was no exception. From the moment he woke up, all he wanted was “Mummy! Mummy! Mummy!”
So, while other people could do their own things like watching TV, read books or just do nothing, I couldn’t even sit down for 5 minutes to rest. That little boy always had something to touch, pull or destroy, much to my annoyance especially when I see other people in the house relaxing and did not offer any help. It's so unfair!
That little boy has picked up a new activity last weekend ie. Facial for Mummy. He would instruct me to lie down ~ “Baring, Mummy… baring!” ~ and then we would take a face towel and place it on my chest (but not before he “kibas” the towel first, like how the Indian barbers did when they cut his hair).
Next, he would pull out a facial tissue and place it on my face. Using his little fingers, he would slowly press the tissue. Then, he would take entah apalah that came in handy (at one time, it was a water flask), and made a circular motion on my face with seriousness showing on his face. When I asked him, “Dah?”, he’d quickly retorted, “Jap… Jap…!” (as in “kejap, kejap!”) and he’d take something else to continue the ritual.
Hee.. hee…. Macam tu lah sampai 4, 5 round. Lastly, he would take a comb and comb my hair, and with his small hand, he would lift the back of my head, and push me up in a gesture that the facial has ended. And he’d finish it with a sweet, “Thanks, Mummy!” and smile.
Ahhhhh… he’s so cute…!!

And he also loves to be massaged. Siap pejam2 mata and whispered, "Oh... best... best..". Sampai gigi dia pun dia suruh kita massage! Kurang asam!
Next time you have to also bring him with you when you go for your hair treatment, etc kat salon. Sure, his service will be upgraded from the Indian Barber style... Hehehe!
I've taken him for a hair cut at my hair saloon when he was younger. Tak time, dia tak pandai berjalan lagi. But now, oooohhh... cannot! Nanti habis semua barang kat saloon tu di geledahnya! It's like "TREASURES!!!!"
I've seen your scrapblog pics. Nice! Will give it a try too.
Thanks again!
Hi! Sekarang ni memang lah everything ~ Mummy. Esok dah besar, "Go away, Mummy!"
Sigh... I shall treasure his clingy days now before he decides he has had enough of clinging on to me anymore!
At this age he is like a sponge.... so this is the time to get him to learn things. They like to immitate what grown ups do as it likens them to one. Its an accomplishment to them to be able to do what adults do.
U do not have tohave proper toys but it helps .... I got my kids toy laptops, so while mummy "does her work on the pc or laptop" the kids have their own to "do their work " as well.
But its this time they need your guidance and hence needing ur attention and affirmation that whatever they are doing is right and/or good.
Ainul loves to tolong sidai kain much to the bibik's annoyance.... she loves to vaccum, rake the leaves and most of the things her mummy hates doing (yup I trained her well) but most days now, all training is lost when the tv is on the Disney Channel.
Oh and when they have too much energy for u to handle, I let mine loose on the padang... run around , while I watch. Kalau boleh, take swimming ker.... after one hour I can tell u, they will be so tired, u'll get 2 free hours... but my free hours are spent napping with them ehhehehehe
Have fun lah dear.
Aida - loves to roll around with her little kiddies.
At 1st quite worried nak accept him, takut he would distract the class. He turns out to be a very fine boy. Get along very well with the other children...
Tp botol susu & diapers wajib bwk every day...
Your son rasanya memang aktif. You need to ´burn´ his energy by playing with them. Pening kepala.. he.he.he.
I selalu suruh my kids get things for me here and there... nak bagi penat.. ha.ha.ha.. and it works. At least depa penat (for a while).
Ajar dia ´massage´ other members of the family.. he.he.he...!! So sweet!
Cutenya!!!Layan sajalah... :-)
He loves doing household chores, too, sampai his bro & sisters get worried, takut bila dia besar nanti, jagi "Auww!" pulak. But I don't think so. I think he's just exploring and trying out new things that adults do in the house.
On toys, I've bought him several laptops already but he doesn't like the toy version. He wants the "real" one. Handphone ke, apa ke, semua dia nak yang real one. I suppose, so that he's got the same thing like what his family members have.
But he loves trucks, lorries, buses and airplanes, and he sleeps with this small motor bike (which is almost breaking apart).
I think children, in general, will behave in the presence of a teacher or other non-family members. I don't know why... They will only become mengada2 dengan mak dia.
He loves to massage everyone else in the family whenever asked. Tapi ikut mood dia lah...
I'd love to take him out to the playground, tapi in my area tak ada lah. In our garden ~ asyik kena gigit nyamuk saja. That's why I malas lepaskan dia kat luar!
Memang kena layan je kerenah dia... tapi kederat dah tak ada lah!
Eta,
Bila nak dapat adik? Entah le... :(
Khalil is like that now... Ainul dulu pun prefer the "real" things rather than the toy versions. But she's learnt that the real ones are mummy's and the toys are hers and Adik's to share.
Khalil pandai send sms tau. No content though and its not at will. Just by him pushing all sorts of buttons. And each of my kids ada digital camera (our old outdated ones) to play with sebab they all sibuk nak godek kita org punya.
What i leant lah kan, kalau kita encourage dia explore and to keep on doing those things, they all for sure rajin. Do not repremand him kalau buat salah. U just pick up where he slacks off and he'll see it and next time he'll surely do it with better attention.
I suka ur story about him immitating being massaged ehehhe so cute.
Aida - still dreaming of getting a bouncy castle for her kids from the ELC.
If you get the bouncing castle, do let us know. We want to attend your party!!
I do my facials at home sometimes, coz we have the equipment. Husband also likes me to do his facials at home. The last time I did husband's face, the little boy was sitting beside me, observing. That's how he got it lah!
we'll surely invite u hehehe the thing is I hardly have space for it tapi tak habis-2 dreaming about it. My kids just love it, mummy dia pun crazy about it ehhehe
Aida.
I org baru kat sini.. best gak baca blog u ni. Tapi, one thing I wanna ask u.. if u dun mind.. and if I'm not mistaken.. ur FIL tu ada anak perempuan kan? Sbb I rasa I kenal la anak perempuan dia tu. But anyhow correct me if I'm wrong..
I continue to be amazed with Nizzar's keletah. He will become an intelligent, creative and outgoing person besok ni... like the mom.
My FIL has a stepdaughter. His real children are all lelaki.
Thanks again. Mudah2an masin mulut you... :)
memang lenguh kaki kan layan Nizzar but its not his fault he is a gorgeous 2 year old and we are over 30 moms...hehehehehehe - i think if I had a toddler now i would be even more penat than you...as according to my mom I am OLDER than you...hee hehe
Soon your face would surely be the envy of all blogging mommies la MrsN oii!!
Nak cium? Kena datang rumah ni!
SW,
Apa lah your mum ni! I think, if you have another toddler, it'll be a piece of cake for you coz you are a natural with children. I never hear you complain of penat looking after the kids, and that's a good sign. Go on... adopt lah!
Thanks for dropping by.
Ibu,
Thanks!!
