Karaoke, Kenduri and Party

Weekend Update:-

Friday evening ~ karaoke with girlfriends.
It was Eyerin's and Along's birthday party. For the first time ever, we danced like there was no tomorrow! All 7 of us! On the chairs! On the floor! It was hilarious! The staff at RB Pavillion must be thinking we were a bunch of crazy middle-aged women letting off steam. But did we care? Nope. We were just having fun. The birthday girls said, "This is my BEST birthday ever!!" Yeah, I should think so too.

Saturday ~ busy day.
Morning ~ went grocery shopping for Nadira's birthday party stuff. Bought nasi lemak from Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa (Taman Melati) for lunch. I still can't figure out why their nasi lemak is so popular. There's nothing fantastic about it. The nasi lemak which I usually buy from Ampang Jaya tastes almost the same, if not better.

As far as I recall, I've only been to the original stall in Kg Baru twice to date. Even then, that was way back in the early 90's. This time around, we bought it just to try and remind ourselves what was so great about it. Still, we couldn't find the answer.

Evening ~ went to Seremban for MrNordin's late grandfather's kenduri. We reached home quite late, almost 2 am.

Sunday ~ Nadira's birthday party.
She wanted a birthday party to mark her 18th birthday. Ok, fair request. So we pulled up a small one for about 30 people.

She invited some of her friends from school. The food was mostly ordered because I was too lazy to sweat in the kitchen ~ nasi dagang and meehoon goreng. But I baked a simple butter cake and she made some chocolate cupcakes for the occasion. I also ordered some profiteroles from Kitchen Guardian which were a hit among the guests.

My in laws came along with my BIL and family. Some family friends came over as well. Since it rained that afternoon, people stayed on until quite late to chat. The kids played Charade while the adults berborak over cups of teh tarik and Nescafe.

The last guest left at 8.30pm ~ a good 6 hours of socialising. I think the birthday girl had a good time. Will post pictures later.

~ The End ~

MrsN,

I can visualise you and your girlfrens menari2 sakan in the karaoke room! How wonderful..you gals really brought the house down, huh?

I second your view on Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa. I pun tak rasa terror sangat nasi lemak dia. Tapi it is so famous! Sama dengan nasi lemak cikgu in PJ. Nothing great (although the price is too wonderfully expensive!), yet dulu masa kat Kelana Jaya, the queue sampai berbelit2 panjangnya! The nasi lemak tak lemak langsung!

BJ,

I pernah cuba the Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa but like u said I know better ones. Then once I went to the spot in Kg Baru.... I terus hilang selera cos the place was dirty and there were rats about. Kg Baru needs to clean up its act lah.

MTT,

Once in a while let off steam like that, quite fun. I think the birthday girls were pretty shocked at first, but dia orang pun sama naik lepas tu.

Nasi lemak Antarabangsa ~ I think nasi lemak Marina lagi best! (hee.. hee... sorry to bring up her name. I wonder where she is now..)

Aida,

That's one thing I don't like about Kg Baru. Dirty. They should really clean up the place like you said.

Lyana,

Hee.. hee... sorry! You takut ke?

The first time I watched it pun, suspen jugak. Half the time, I was closing my eyes. But after 2, 3 rounds, ok lah.

Don't you just love it when he clicked the Zippo? Clung! After that movie, my husband and his cousins all bought new/took out their old Zippo to us. Perasan Constantine!

What Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa, wherever they may be - Kampong Baru ke, Taman Melawati ke. They are all a bloody disgrace. You find vermins running all over the place, filthy tables, filthy chairs, filthy floors and even the cashier pun selekeh satu macam. Muka tak mandi lima hari.

This is Bumi business for you, pengotor punya orang.

Thank you for highligting your observation Mrs N. I thought I was the only one who noticed this.

Jim,

The new outlets at Ampang Point, Danau Kota and Taman Melati look kinda impressive. I think they're starting a franchise business, hence the new image. But the service is still slow. We had to wait for more than 30 mins for our 5 packs of nasi lemak, much to the annoyance of my husband.

They'd better buck up on the service, otherwise, they'll lose out. Thanks for your comment.

Then you get the other type.

If something is consistently selling well, they choose not to make enough of it. This self-imposed limitation will make customers menyampah and they will gradually lose interest.

Then you get the type kalau bila nak bayar aja tak ada change.

Phew! How to maju ?

Jim,

Yes, I always wonder why kedai orang melayu (sorry to say lah..) selalu tak ada change. Bila nak bayar, dia tanya kita balik kalau kita ada small change. I paling menyampah kalau dapat soalan macam tu.

Kedai mamak tak ada pulak banyak soal. Kadang2, bagi RM100 pagi2 pun dia ada duit tukar.

If the girl/guy asked me for small change bila I nak beli barang dia, I'll put down the barang balik. Buat apa I beli barang dia when he doesn't seemed interested to sell it to me, right?

MrsN,

The initial BJ is being used now and again. Just out of curiousity, how does this fit in?

Now onto a bigger question. Is the one in pink with the black tudong at the karaoke session the same person who was in blue during your class reunion?

MrsN,Tengok gambar jer dah tahu that you had a blast!!Its nice kan...to let loose once in a while...That Nasi Lemak tue, yups, I don't really get it as well. I prefer the one next door in Kg Bharu, Wak Manjor...the sambal is nicer I think.Happy Birthday to your daughter too!

Jim,

The initials B.J is my nickname from school. Some friends still call me by that name until today. And please, it's not what you think, ok? (the meaning, I mean)

Yes, the one in the pink and blue is the same person. I'm still waiting for your e-mail.

Bella,

I've never tried this Wak Major's nasi lemak. Perhaps I'll look out for it.

Thanks for your birthday wish for Nadira.

Routed here from Lyana's blog.

Love those photos of the girls having fun. I second you on the "why kedai orang melayu (sorry to say lah..) selalu tak ada change" - betul cara you tu. Why buy when they are not interested to sell kan?

Hi Farah,

Thanks for dropping by.

Iya lah, if they can't be bothered about preparing loose change for their customers, that means they memang can't be bothered to sell their stuff. They expect us pulak to go and look for small change. Oh, please!
laaa nasib baik tak roboh PAVI heheheheh!! You looked like you had fun though so it would have been worth it!hee hee

happy happy birthday Nadira!!
