Update @ 2:25 pm
I went out early during lunch just now to check on the maid and stock up food at home (bila masa nak beli, my a**!). Being the ever for forgiving employer, I did not raise the issue again when I saw her.
She was very tactful when spoken to, very polite (unlike this morning). I asked her what Nadim had for lunch, she said she cooked rice, sambal tumis and ada daging masak kicap. "Has Nizzar eaten?" She said yes. But when I kissed budak kecik tu, tak de pun bau makanan. Since I malas nak probe further, I took her word for it. If only the little boy could speak...
So, I told her to cook asam pedas ikan siakap and ayam goreng for tonight. I'll be coming home late coz I've to fetch my dear husband from KL Sentral at 7pm and then on to fetch Nabila from Shah Alam. She wants to come home for the night coz she just spent the last 2 nights in a jungle somewhere in Pahang (ie. camping). I think she missed her bathroom.
My stress this morning has somewhat subsided. Gosh, I miss my husband!

Its like when once a while I get to come home early... and U know what my maid says? "Tak kerja ka?" Amboi.... macam dia pulak jaga our schedules.
U know, my off days are never my off days. My off days are more like HER off days, but at least I get time to be with my kids.
Also sometimes, we just have to let go of the little things because they look after our kids while we are away.
I tell them, u need me and I need u. So do not spoil it.
Hugs,
Aida.
I think you handle her the right way. We can't be too strict with themlah or else they cabut. If they cabut, kita gak yg susah.
My first maid lasted 9 years with me, she took care of all my kids dari baby sampai the youngest 2 1/2 years old. 2nd maid lasted 2 years, the 3rd only 1 year (coz I became fussy..I think). Looking back, my first maid lasted very long because she's a good person (pious and old enough to be my mom) plus I gave her quite a free hand. We still keep in touch till now.
My maids only cook for the kids, alah..yg simple2 je. My current maid seems good so I pun don't want to be too strictlah.1 week without a maid..penat wooo..
As long as dia tak buat stg really wrong, oklah tu..
Busybody
Cerita kita ni macam sama je...
Yes, my OFF days are usually her OFF days because I choose to look after the little boy. Kadang2 husband marah kat I sebab bagi muka sangat kat maid. Entah lah, tak sampai hati pulak tengok dia kerja 24/7 cam tu, I know it's tiring.
But the thing is, since I treat you nicely, janganlah pulak naik kepala. Memang, kena banyak sabar and kena banyak bising (which I don't like).
Thanks for your support. My feel on this ~ they are human, too. That's why I don't want to be too hard on her.
I need her to look after the children when I'm not at home, and she does it well. I trust her with my baby, that's what's important. So, benda kecik2 tu, pejam mata je lah.
She's been with us 6 years now.
However, my maid is older than me, so i tak boleh bising. If I ever do, she will look straight through me and will not even listen to anything I tell her. Which is more annoying. I've even had chats with the agent about this behavious, but then like u said, she is human and has one of those moods. So i terima and just have to bear with it. I do not foresee her staying with us longer than what her contract requires her to.
BUt I am glad that I have her. Just have to be thankful for what we have.
Aida.
Our maid is 25. Masih boleh di tunjuk ajar...
Despite these occasional incidents, she's ok overall. Out of 5, I can give her a strong 4 (with constant reminders and push, that is). What about yours?
Alamak, aku punya english teruk betul - I meant to say "it must be distressing" buat nama aje duduk US bertahun-tahun. . .sorry.
I'd give mine a 5 lah, but on days when her mood tak baik, I'd take 2 back which leaves her with a 3 ehhehehe....
SHe cooks WELL. She listens to instructions well and follows them to the T. I bukan cerewet tapi I am prone to leaving things around the house (forgetful), she does not sweep them away or cleans up after me and hides things away.
My former maid suka sgt cleans up after me (paper work and all that) that she simpan the geran kereta until I never found it to renew my roadtax. I found it when we were moving house (with the new maid). That was a whole lot of headache.
But this one will remind me, "kalau kertas tue penting, kenapa tak simpan" (yes she sounds like a nag) ehhehehehhe
I guess its because its not her first time working in M'sia and some of her previous employers were fussier than me. I think she has it good with me. Cos a few months back I took her to a friends' house whose maid is from the same agent and they knew each other, the other maid commented that my maid has put on a lot of weight ehhehehe
Aida.
Ya lah, kata dah makan, but when I kissed him, there was no trace of smell. Wouldn't you feel suspicious?
I comforted myself by saying that perhaps he had eaten much earlier. Don't want to fret about it so much, can go crazy!
Sounds like your maid is a prized asset. You must have done something good, too.
I've never had any experience with other maids before, so I can't compare. The only way for me to compare is when I hear my friends/in laws telling me stories of their maids. So far so good. I guess, it's better the devil you know, huh?
I do that too. Kiss my son on the mouth to make sure he has eaten ehehhe... my maid usually would have changed his clotes after he has eaten cos he's a messy eater (all my kids are).
I also check the dirty clothes hamper for the dirty shirt ehhehe...

This one tak banyak bertonyeh - does her work well, knows how to carry herself (read: tak lebih dari tuan rumah). I treat her like a member of the family but she knows how to respect me as a "majikan" as well that she will not make any decision without my consent.
I had one (ex) maid who told me that she doesn't want to follow me balik kampung when I had to attend my aunt's funeral, had the cheek to tell me - " Kakak saja lah balik (Johor), anak-anak biar tinggal dengan saya (di KL)"
I told her to get out of my house the same night. She just work for me for less than a month. My kids were very young at that time. Hah...brutal ke tidak majikan ini - I normally tak banyak cakap dengan my maid tapi kalau sudah pijak kapla kaluu...sorry no cure.
I think buat baik, memang la kena buat baik, like you said they are human too - but at the same time kena draw that line between pekerja dan majikan so that they will have to respect the tuan rumah.
I had to go to a conference earlier this week, and my hubby was not keen on the idea of him and the kids staying with the maid at our house while I was gone, so all of them camped out at my MIL.
I balik aje semalam, my hubby was complaining - my maid did not siapkan his breakfast langsung the three days they were there, like she normally would at our house.
When I confronted her about this, she told that my MIL's maid told her that the people staying at my MIL's only have breakfast at 8:30a.m! So, because dia dengar cakap that maid, dia pun goyang kaki lah. Sapa yang bayar gaji dia?!! Tension!
My hubby goes out around 6:45a.m, and the nature of his work sometimes, he would only have time for lunch after 4pm! So, breakfast is vital. Bukannya he asks a lot pun - most to most french toasts or sunny side up egg with sausages + baked beans or cereal or roti bakar with kaya, etc...
Kurang ajar betul! My MIL's maid tu memang tak suka if anak menantu my MIL balik coz' more work for her, etc. Sometimes even though there are more people at home, she would only set the dining table for 5 people ajer! Kurang ajar big time...
Eh, eh... pandai2 pulak your ex-maid beritau you what to do! Sungguh kurang asam! Orang dah suruh ikut tu, ikut je lah, kan?
Anyway, you memang brutal. My patience hasn't been tested up to the max yet. So far, masih boleh tahan, alhamdulillah...
Why didn't your husband just ask your maid to prepare his breakfast outright when she failed to do so? He doesn't talk to the maid, ke?
Or, he memang tak nak orang lain buatkan his breakfast but you, that's why he complained.... :)
