Shana

I was taking a ride from Shana today from the Makcik Bloggers meeting at Kay's place. There I was sitting in her car for the very first time and I had the longest conversation with her ~ also the first time.

Shana and I had been schoolmates since Form 1 but we were in different classes. We also took the same train during the school holidays to go back to our hometowns in Taiping and Ipoh, respectively. But all throughout the 5 years together, I've never had the chance to really talk to her. At the most, it was just Hi and Bye.

But today, as we were talking in the car all the way from Shah Alam to Ampang, I discovered the most amazing thing about her. She's very calm & composed, and a very caring person.

After saying goodbyes to all the MBs at Kay's place today, I got into her car. The first thing she did was to call her husband to inform him that she was sending me home.

As I listened to her talking to her husband, it made me feel somewhat embarrased at the way I speak to my husband. Her words were calm and composed. She spoke in a low tone and sounded so polite, as if she was talking to a colleague at work. Very respectful.

Well, it did occur to me that she could be making that up in my presence. But as she drove away and we started making conversation, I realised that my earlier perception was wrong. She is genuinely nice.

We stopped by at Ampang Putri to visit Ibu who has been warded since Friday. Ibu is a very close friend to Shana, much like how I am with my friends Dada and Intan. We exchanged hellos, and Shana sat on the hospital bed with Ibu while I took the chair facing the bed.

As I listened to both of them talking, I knew why Shana is special to her friends' eyes. She is very kind. She was genuinely concerned, and kept on telling Ibu to sit still and not move around too much when she gets home from the hospital. She also asked about pantang larang makan etc, and I thought that was very sweet.

I told her I could ask my husband to pick me up from the hospital after the visit but she insisted on sending me home. I didn't want to trouble her anymore because she had to drive home alone to BSB and it was getting quite late.

But she insisted and so she did. And she waited until I safely entered my house's gate before she drove off.

Ahh... what can I say, Shana... you're very kind and thoughtful indeed. I wish I had known you better in my earlier life. And if that had happened, we would have been the best of friends now.

And Haizal, if you're reading this, I just want to say that you are really lucky to have her as your wife and friend. Eventhough you've known each other longer than any of us have with our respective spouses (25 years?), I know you both will still be together for the next 25. She's a gem that should be kept for life!

I had the same thoughts about Shana today. When she handed out her tochu sambal, she was so composed and voice was soft and sweet.

Now I know why you guys took a while before driving out from my place after getting in the car. Ingat kan apa pasal, ooo...rupa nya Shana was making a call.

That's exactly what I told The Principal today. Kak Shana is so composed, sweet, and the way she speaks is so remarkable, it speaks volume about her character.

Who was it that says "Tak kenal maka tak cinta"? I dulu ingatkan u sombong hehehe...but of course I was wrong. You're a vivacious mak datin whose vibrance and cheerfulness are contagious.

I must thank Kak Kay for being such a good host.

I felt the same way too....mlm tadi dlm gelap, I told myself "be like Kak Shana". She's the most composed person I've ever met. Abg Haizal is lucky to have her as his wife & the children are very lucky to have her as their Mom.

And I look at myself - mcm langit dgn bumi dgn Kak Shana. And last night while observing the Earth Hour, I made a promise to myself...

Ditto, ditto, ditto ....

And one plus point to being a close friend to shana, you invite her to your house for makan2, we all ended up makan2 & enjoying her cookings (instead of that of the tuan rumah!). Isn't that marvellous? hehehe... to tuan rumah yg tak malu, memang la sangat marvellous!!

Shana, if you are reading this, you know I am better at scolding than superlatives, so ... pls take the above as one very good comment oredi..... u r a gem indeed(yes, without the 'r').

p/s but of course as ahli MT, we got to see the not so composed and no so calm moments of Shana... hahah...but way better than the rest of us still.
After reading this entry, suddenly I remember something, where is my my taucu sambal....waaaa...

Gosh, BJ...I'm blushing big time over here :) Thank you for your sweet and kind words, dear.

I share the same feeling - wished we had known each other better years ago. I find you to be a very warm, loving, honest and sincere person. You ni macam magnet - people are always attracted to you and want to be friends with you because you're so nice :) Well, as they say - never too late to get to know each other better, kan, BJ? ;)

And I also have to thank all kengkawan who left their comments here. Alahai...Blush, blush...

I tergelak bila baca ni tadi and let Haizal read it, and the first thing he said was, "Hmmmm... BJ obviously has not seen or heard you when you're stuck in a traffic jam and some inconsiderate drivers cross your path!" Hahaha! So true :)

He, and as Ibu said - my Ahli MT know the REAL me. They know me so well :) I can be SO NOT CALM and SO NOT COMPOSED sometimes, you know. Hehehe!

But, it's nice to know that friends have that perception about me. Thanks, you all :)

And K.Ezza, don't worry - insya Allah next gathering I bawakkan sambal tauchu tu - special untuk Kak Ezza, okay? :)

Thanks again, you all :)

Hi BJ and Shana whom I know will be reading this too,

Same sentiments here. I also find Shana to be a warm person, someone whom you would love to talk to all day. I don't remember her to be like that when she was in STF, maybe like you I dodn't know her that well. If I am her student, I would love to have her teach me every semester.

Kak Ezza, masa saya nak balik tu, jumpa taucu satu tertinggal atas keyboard. Kirim salam je lah kat taucu tu that day... dah jadi rezki orang Shah Alam

Salam, what a lady you've described there. Malu kak teh nak jumpa.
And what a time you must have had. I was out all morning yesterday checking out a new cafe - an authentic roti canai cafe in London.
Hope to read everyone's account abt the meet.

Thank you very much, Hanna, for your vote of NO confidence in your Mommy. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

BJ,

Haizal asked our kids to read this posting just now and tergolek-golek they all tergelak! Not just that. Then they started imitating the way I behave when I drive through a traffic jam. Chiiittt!

Haru betullah anak-anak and laki I nih...Langsung tak AFUNDI I...

Anon,

I didn't go to the AGM. Haven't been to one quite a while already.

Kak Kama,

No problem. There's always another time...
MrsN,

That is very nice of you to do a posting on Shana. It allows me to have a better perspective of her as a person, instead of just a blogger. Eventhough I have met her once kat Concorde dulu, it was just a fleeting moment. Tak cukup to form any opinion of the real person. Really glad you shared this with us.

Shana, TAKE IT ALL IN!! :-)

Hi BJ

That first few moments when I spoke to Shana, I thought something was troubling her..she sounded so..composed - almost controlled. heh heh heh..but after a while, I noticed that's the real her. Funny I always picture her to be so 'bising' (like me la..). She didnt even raise her voice (not that she had any reason to), gelak pun sopan santun gitu. Malu pulak bila ingat how I behaved when meeting fellow bloggers..entah macam apa perangai :-)

Twas a good meeting indeed..
